How to create a backup
Creating a backup is simple. You can drag-and-drop a selection of assets, or click the orange cloud Upload button to start creating your asset pack.
Once saved, your asset pack is automatically installed in the correct version of Adobe Illustrator on your computer. You can create backups for multiple Illustrator versions, such as Illustrator 2024 and Illustrator 2025, or different language setups like en_US or de-DE.
Quick installation and download of assets
Astute Manager Pro is not just for backups. It also allows quick installation of downloaded assets directly into Illustrator.
For example, you can drag and drop Swatch .ase files onto the Swatches tile and click the Create button to install new swatches immediately.
Where to find your assets in Illustrator
Assets downloaded through Astute Manager Pro are installed directly into the correct Illustrator asset location and are not saved in your Downloads folder.
To find your downloaded assets, such as Brushes, Graphic Styles, Swatches, and Symbols, open the related Illustrator panel and click the Library button at the bottom left. Navigate to User Defined, and then your asset pack name.
There is no need to restart Illustrator; your assets are ready to use right away.

Depending on your Astute Manager Pro subscription plan, you can create teams to share, sync, and manage Adobe Illustrator assets among multiple users.

How to get the freemium Astute Manager Pro plan
Astute Manager Pro offers a free subscription plan that gives almost full access to the service, with limits on cloud storage and team size.
The freemium plan allows backing up of Brushes, Graphic Styles, Workspaces, and Astute Graphics Plugin Settings, if you have the plugin subscription. You can create a team of up to three members to test asset distribution features.
The storage limit for the freemium plan is 300MB per user, which is generous for most Illustrator preferences and small asset packs.
